Chancellor’s House Places Magnolia Tree on Rooftop Today

Published

on

This morning at 11 a.m., the construction workers at the Chancellor’s House set a young magnolia tree atop the highest point on the hotel.

According to Chancellor’s House public relations agent, Justin Woods, this ceremony signifies that the hotel is nearing its completion.

The topping-out ceremony is an old construction tradition, according to Slate.com. Placing the tree is associated with the raising of the building’s highest beam or structural element, hence the inspiration of the name: the topping-out ceremony.

According to Tom Stone, the developer of the Chancellor’s House, the construction crew will begin to hang the sheetrock, or drywall, next week. Windows and French doors have already began being installed, and bathtubs are arriving for future installation.

The hotel is currently accepting reservations for the football season on www.ChancellorsHouse.com.
