Aggravated Assault, Strong Arm Robbery on Robinson Road in Oxford
The Oxford police responded to two incidents on Robinson Road late last night and early this morning: an aggravated assault and a strong arm robbery.
The aggravated assault occurred when Oxford patrol officers responded to the Robinson Road at 12:45 a.m. for an assault. A man was hit with a baseball bat in the face by Kevin Pegues (30 of Oxford). The victim was airlifted to Memphis with extensive damage to his head and face.
Major Jeff McCutchen said in the media alert: “It is believed that he will be ok and make a full recovery. Pegues is in custody for aggravated assault and is awaiting a bond.”
McCutchen will release a picture of Pegues once his bond is set. The case is still under investigation.
Last night at 11:30 p.m. Oxford patrol officers responded to a robbery call on Robinson Road. Upon arrival, they spoke to the victim who reported being approached by five juvenile males. Three assaulted the victim while the other two broke the windows out of the victim’s car. The window-breaking juveniles then pointed weapons at him, demanding his wallet. Upon acquiring the wallet, the juveniles then got back into their car and left the scene.
Major Jeff McCutchen said, “This is an ongoing dispute from a previous investigation where the victim broke the windows out of a car belonging to one of the juveniles’ mother. The victim has been able to identify the juveniles and the case will be handled in juvenile court.”
