The Bellfuries to Play Double Decker Arts Festival on the Ole Miss Sports Stage
The Austin, Texas-based “rock ‘n’ roll” band, The Bellfuries are scheduled to play the Double Decker Arts Festival presented by Caterpillar on Saturday, April 23 on the Ole Miss Sports Stage at 4 p.m. – which is considered primetime every year at DD.
Why “rock ‘n’ roll” is in quotes in the above graph becomes apparent when reading the bio of the versatile Texas band on its website. Their sound, their genre simply can’t be labeled… but rock ‘n’ roll is as keen of a descriptor as any.
According to the band’s bio, when vocalist and chief songwriter Joey Simeone was tasked with defining rock ‘n’ roll, he said; “Let’s see. There’s elements of country music, rhythm and blues. There’s some improvisation on stage that I guess you could say is jazz-inspired. Throw in some gospel…plenty of melodies coming out of older pop tunes. That adds up to rock and roll, last time I checked. If we’re not re-inventing the wheel, I’d rather get to work than worry about renaming it.”
Wow! Well said, sir.
And, it’ll definitely be an experience to see (and hear) y’all cram all of that sound, all of that personality into an hour set before a screaming crowd of hundreds – possibly thousands – on a beautiful spring day on the Oxford Square: God’s Country.
The Bellfuries are: Joey Simeone (vocals/guitar); Jeff Seaver (upright/electric bass); Mike Molnar (lead guitar); and Chris Sensat (drums/vocals).
