University of Mississippi Museum Voted as One of the Best in US
Validating what most of us already knew; Best College Reviews recently lauded the University of Mississippi Museum as being one of the top college museums in the US.
Landing in the No. 12 spot in the national ranking, Ole Miss was rated higher than prominent schools such as Berkley, Princeton and the University of Kansas – and no other SEC university placed anywhere in the top 35 (Ole Miss wins yet again!)
According to its website (BestCollegeReviews.com): Best College Reviews was started with the explicit goal of competing with ‘US News and World Report’ as an authoritative, objective and editorially independent college review journal. Our commitment is to provide students with the best, most trust-worthy guidance for making what may be the biggest decision of their lives.
Criteria used to determine the rankings for university museums were:
• A permanent collection spanning multiple historical and cultural periods
• Size of each museum’s collection
• Unique opportunities for university students
• Significant community involvement
“The University Museum is exceptionally proud and excited to have word of its No. 12 ranking in a national assessment of the nation’s top 35 academic museums,” UM Museum Director Robert Saarnio said. “We work very hard to provide our community with exceptional exhibitions, programs and educational opportunities – so it is gratifying and humbling to have the acknowledgment we’ve received.”

Kudos to Saarnio, his staff and the university as a whole. Hotty Toddy and keep those accolades rolling in, Ole Miss!
