Ole Miss Students Helping Haitians on Ole Missions Trip
The Ole Missions student organization, a Christian student group at Ole Miss, is in Haiti during the Ole Miss spring break helping communities with projects. This group is completely separate from another group with Oxonians and the Ole Miss football team who are in a different part of Haiti.
Yesterday, the students said they completed two projects, which included painting homes built by Mission of Hope and building and distributing 30 water filters, which can last up to 10 years.
“Today the Ole Missions team completed two work projects. In the morning they painted and established relationships with villagers in the housing projects built by Mission of Hope,” Ole Missions posted on Facebook. “In the afternoon the team built and distributed 30 water filters that can last for up to ten years. We were extremely excited about this project because Haiti has one of the lowest percentages of people that have access to purified water. This project also presented an opportunity to share not only the importance of purified water but more importantly the living water of Christ.”
The 49 volunteer students arrived in Haiti on March 12 and will leave on March 19. This is the first Ole Missions trip to Haiti.
