Help Sought for Grieving Chambers Family After Devastating Loss
After an early-morning fire on Sunday claimed the life of James “Jim” Chambers, associate dean for research and graduate programs with the School of Engineering at Ole Miss, friends and associates have rallied in an attempt to help restore normalcy to his grieving family; sons Phil and Will, and wife, Julie (who has been battling breast cancer for over a year).
The family not only lost their beloved father and husband, they have lost “virtually everything (including pets),” according to family friend Gayle Oser.
“They both have always been kind, strong and giving but now it’s our turn so that Julie and their two boys can rebuild,” Oser said early this morning.
With that in mind, Oser and a group of other family friends have set up a GoFundMe account page (GoFundMe/Chambers.com) to help the Chambers’ offset expenses associated with funeral, temporary living, cancer treatments, general living and rebuilding costs.
The following explanation is posted on the GoFundMe account page:
Early morning on March 13, 2016 a house fire tragically took the life of our beloved father, husband, friend, teacher, and volunteer Dr. James ‘Jim’ Chambers. In addition to his family’s loss, the Phi Tau brotherhood, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss and the Oxford community have lost a valued member. Julie and the boys have lost virtually everything: Jim, home, belongings and even some pets.
They need prayers more than anything. If you would like to help, a donation would assist with funeral, temporary living, cancer treatment, and rebuilding expenses. The family appreciates any and all gifts.
For those who would like to help; visit GoFundMe/Chambers.com where you can donate any amount. All gifts are greatly needed (and appreciated) during this traumatic time in the Chambers family’s life.
The photo below shows the commitment and loyalty the Boy Scouts have to the Chambers family.
