NFL teams saw two sides of Dak Prescott on Saturday. The quarterback hosted a football camp displaying the community service that Mississippi State built his reputation around the last five years.
Then news broke that Prescott was arrested and charged with driving under the influence hours before the camp.
“I want to make a statement, and first take complete responsibility for my actions,” Prescott said in a statement to NFL.com. “I’m very remorseful for my misjudgement. I want to apologize to my true supporters, my family, Mississippi State University, the NFL, and the kids who look up to me. I won’t ask for forgiveness; however, I’ll show the true man I am and exhibit my character through my actions and behavior moving forward.”
The arrest added a red flag on Prescott’s resume that includes being named a two-time first-team All-SEC quarterback, holding every passing record at Mississippi State and being the player who many consider the best player in program history.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. listed Prescott as a second round pick last month. The Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller raved about the quarterback’s rise up draft boards after the combine.
