Ole Miss Hosts Grambling State in Final Non-Conference Weekend Series
This weekend Ole Miss welcomes Grambling State into Oxford for the final non-conference weekend series.
Ole Miss (12-1) enters the weekend after sweeping Southeast Missouri on Tuesday and Wednesday. After sweeping the Redhawks, the Rebels are riding a seven-game winning streak.
Will Golsan delivered a two-run home run in the seventh against the Redhawks to tie the game. Golsan had a two-hit and 2 RBI night at the dish. As a club, the Rebels are hitting .346 with runners in scoring position, including .417 with bases loaded.
The next win for Ole Miss and coach Mike Bianco will be his 700th career victory and 600th as Ole Miss head coach.
Let’s take a closer look at the Grambling State Tigers.
A member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), Grambling State enters the weekend with a 4-6 record. Three of the Tigers’ four wins have come against rival Southern. Daniel Barnett leads GSU at the plate with a .415 average, including a team-high 15 RBI.
On the mound, the Tigers are giving up an average of nine runs per game. Issac O’Bear posts the best record and ERA in the rotation; the redshirt-junior is 2-1 with a 5.19 ERA in three starts, spanning 17.1 innings.
Coach Bianco will send Brady Bramlett, Chad Smith and Sean Johnson. No starters have been announced from Grambling State for this weekend’s series.
Entering the weekend, the Ole Miss bullpen holds a combined ERA of 1.31 as relievers have not given up a run in 19.0 innings of work.
This will be the first ever meeting on the diamond between the Rebels and the Tigers.
Game times are set for tonight at 6:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday are at 1:30 p.m. respectively. Fans can watch all the action on SECNetwork+ or listen to the call on the Ole Miss Radio Network.
