In a comforting reversal of roles, the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council hosted an evening of Music and Merriment last Friday evening as a display of appreciation for a massive crowd of art supporters, local artists and musicians at the home of Douglas and Ralph Vance.
A portion of the crowd – usually on the giving end of an arts-based program – were treated to a plethora of food and drink as well as two finely tuned sets by local jazz favorite Bill Perry and his band; including rhythm section drummer and bassist, Ricky Burkhead and Dave Woolworth, respectively. Both Burkhead and Woolworth are board members of the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council.
A beautiful night, capped off by an amazing crowd and jazzy background music by the Bill Perry Trio most certainly achieved what YAC had hoped; to thank Oxford and, more specifically, art supporters who keep YAC on the cutting edge of Mississippi arts programming.
Check out the featured video (top) and other embedded videos (below) for a sample of the Bill Perry Trio and their silky smooth sound that entertained YAC and local art supporters last Friday night.
