Ole Miss Rifle to Host Conference Championships This Weekend
The competition is heating up as the No. 15 ranked Ole Miss rifle team prepares to host the Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships this weekend. The action starts Friday and concludes on Sunday with air rifle finals.
Competition will take place at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center, right next to the Oxford Conference Center, located off Hwy 7 and Sisk Avenue. Admission is free all three days. Click on the championship central link for a complete schedule of events.

Fans coming to the championships on Saturday, will receive free Chick-fil-a breakfast and an Ole Miss Rifle bottle koozie.
Last year’s championships…
This will be the Rebels’ 12th consecutive year to host the GARC Championships. Last year, the Rebels finished fifth overall. West Virginia claimed both the air rifle and overall conference championships. Sophomore Jessica Haig led the Rebels with a career-high in smallbore (579) and a 590 in air rifle. She finished with the 11th best combined aggregate (1169).
About GARC…
All nine teams competing in this weekend’s championship are ranked inside the CRCA top 20 rankings. This includes the 2015 GARC Champion, West Virginia at No. 1. Kentucky (No.3), Nebraska (No. 8), Memphis (No. 9), NC State (No. 10), Army (No. 12), Navy (No. 14), Ole Miss (No. 15), and Akron (No. 16) will all be competing this weekend.
Rebels to watch…
Junior Alison Weisz, who posted her seventh score in the 590s at last weekend’s NCAA Qualifier, leads the Rebels with an average of 590 in air rifle and 571.1 in smallbore. Last year, she qualified for the NCAA Championships in smallbore. Jessica Haig finished a combined 11th at last year’s championships, and is second on the team with a 586.2 average in air rifle.

“We have spent months in planning and preparation for one of the best displays of collegiate shooting. We are honored to be able to host a large number of the best athletes that NCAA Rifle has to offer and provide a dress rehearsal for the ones continuing on in postseason. Our team is ready to compete for the home crowd and close out our season with another great score.”
