Oxford Film Festival Kicks Off at the Powerhouse
Meet me in the crowd, people, people
Throw your love around, love me, love me
Take it into town, happy, happy
Put it in the ground where the flowers grow
Gold and silver shine
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing
-R.E.M. “Shiny Happy People”
The Powerhouse hosted Oxford Film Festival’s official kick-off on Wednesday, Feb. 17, successfully feeding and “watering” the masses while screening a block of Food+Film documentary shorts.
Rarely (if ever) has OFF hosted as many guest filmmakers for the event… and this is just the tip of the iceberg as OFF kicks it into full gear tonight at the Lyric Oxford.
Tonight’s event is considered a “can’t miss” opportunity as OFF teams with the Thacker Mountain Radio Hour for a first ever red carpet walk beginning at 5 p.m.
Thanks to all of you “Shiny Happy People” who made last night’s kick-off event a blissful success and a special thanks and “job well done” to OFF volunteer Molly Beth Shaffer who organized the event.
Oxford Film Festival rolls through Sunday, February 21. A schedule of citywide events can be found at OxfordFilmFestival
