Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Monday, February 12 – 15
Armed Robbery – Campus Creek
The Oxford police report the victim of the armed robbery stated he arranged a meeting with a male to purchase $1,000 worth of marijuana. When he arrived, the suspect told him to get in his car and then pulled a gun to demand the victim give him all his money. A fight ensued where the suspect hit the victim multiple times. The victim then called an ambulance and the Oxford police also arrived.
At this time, there have been no arrests but the investigation is ongoing.
Oxford police responded to the following calls: 23 disturbances, 19 suspicious activities, 12 alarms, seven careless drivers, five ambulance assists, five welfare concerns, four lost properties, four improper parking, four civil matters, three noise violations, two lost properties, two malicious mischief, two 911 hang up calls, a credit card fraud, a simple assault, a trespassing, a petit larceny, harassing phone calls, a shoplifting, an animal complaint, a fire department assist, a business burglary at WingStop, and an auto burglary at Links and The Mark.
Oxford police investigated 22 wrecks, issued 88 traffic citations and made — arrests on the following charges:

One headlight, suspended driver’s license and possession of drug paraphernalia
Switched tag, suspended driver’s license and possession of drug paraphernalia
Expired tag and possession of drug paraphernalia
Speeding, no driver’s license and no insurance
Speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia
Careless driving and public intoxication
Possession of Schedule I narcotics
Disturbing the peace
Public intoxication
Warrant served
Shoplifting
DUI

Smell of smoke at 7:35 p.m. discovered to be a heating unit’s motor burning up on the roof of Jackson Avenue Center
Heat detector activation at 9:40 p.m. caused by burned biscuits at McDonald’s on University Avenue
Fire alarm malfunction at 10:47 p.m. at the Rooster’s

Smell of gasoline at 12:30 p.m. at Pam’s Pools and Spas – source was spilled gas from Rex Team Sports next door
Residents locked out at 8:39 p.m. at 229 Town Center Drive #22
Sunday, February 14
Smoke detector malfunction at 11:25 a.m. at Alpha Tau Omega house
Smoke detector activation at 2:56 p.m. by cooking at 716 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive
Smoke detector malfunction at 7:21 p.m. at Sigma Pi house
Monday, February 15
Smoke detector malfunction at 2:34 p.m. at Natural Products
Cancelled call at 5:14 p.m. at Canterbury Crest
Chimney fire at 5:42 p.m. at 3337 Whippoorwill
