Oxford High Baseball Ranked No. 1
Just a few days after the season’s beginning, Oxford High School baseball going into full swing. The Oxford Chargers enter the 2016 campaign ranked as No. 1 according to MaxPreps.com.
On Tuesday, Max Preps released its 2016 preseason’s Top 5 baseball rankings. Coach Chris Baughman’s club stands atop of the nations high school baseball programs.
The other schools listed are exemplary. No. 5 Venice Indians are Florida Class 6A champions. The No. 4 Parkview Panthers in Lilburn, Georgia the defending MaxPreps national champions. The No. 3 Coppell Cowboys in Texas have one of the nation’s top pitchers, Charles King. The No. 2 Huntingon Beach Oilers are the defending Southern section champions ready for a national championship this year.
The Oxford Chargers are MaxPreps Computer Rankings national champions from 2015, and they began the 2016 season as Xcellent 25 No. 1.
Oxford won the Mississippi 5A State Crown last spring by defeating George County in two straight games. This victory capped off a 35-1 record with the only loss to New Hope in the North Half Championships.
After winning the state crown last season, the Chargers step back on the diamond February 20 against Amory. This game is a part of the annual Jamboree at Oxford High School.
