Taylor Moody and Randa Martin got engaged under the Walk of Champions on January 31.

Racking his brain on how to propose to the woman he loves, Taylor Moody, an Ole Miss student from Pontotoc, Mississippi, decided to ask for Randa Martin’s hand in marriage under the arches of the Walk of Champions.

“I decided to propose at the Walk of Champions simply because it means so much to the both of us,” Taylor said. “I grew up watching Eli Manning, Patrick Willis, Deuce McAllister, and many others walking under that arch way and being a big rebel fan- Randa is also a big Rebel fan just not as big of one as me.”

Taylor and Randa met through a relative of Randa’s at a soccer game at North West Community College. Randa played soccer and her cousin went to her game and brought Taylor too.

“We first met in October of 2013. At the time I was playing soccer for NWCC and we had a game at ICC, where my cousin and Taylor (who I never met or even heard of) attended,” Randa said. “We met after my game.”

Taylor and Randa were invited to the Ole Miss and Idaho game a few weeks later, but their first official date was in November at the Egg Bowl. Although, the Rebels were defeated in the 2013 Egg Bowl, Taylor and Randa hit it off. And the rest is history! Taylor proposed to Randa on Jan. 31, 2016.

“I thought it would be awesome to start my life with the woman I love under the same arch way that so many Ole Miss greats walked under,” Moody said, “and plus, it was an Ole Miss game that was our first date, so it only made sense.”

Taylor and Randa have not set an official date for their wedding, but hope to wed on December 17, 2016. Currently, Taylor attends Ole Miss at the Tupelo campus and Randa is a students at NWCC, majoring in social work. The couple will be attending Ole Miss on the Tupelo campus together this fall as they plan their wedding.
