Chief Communications Officer, Tom Eppes, Announces He Is Leaving Ole Miss
Chief Communications Officer for The University of Mississippi, Tom Eppes, has advised Chancellor Vitter of his plans to seek further opportunities.
“Yes, I will be looking at other opportunities and serving Ole Miss through the end of my annual contract in June,” Eppes said.
Eppes is the second person to leave the communications department at Ole Miss since the end of Chancellor Jones’ tenure and the appointment of the new chancellor, Dr. Jeffrey Vitter, in October of 2015, who took office on January 1, 2016.
Danny Blanton, the former director of public relations at Ole Miss, announced on his Twitter account in November of 2015 of his decision leave the department.
“I am honored to have served my alma mater for the past 3 years and I’m proud of what we accomplished. I will always love Ole Miss,” Blanton said in a Tweet.
Jonathon Scott, Public Relations Interim Director for the university, said Eppes notified the chancellor of his decision last week.
“Tom is not retiring. He has communicated to the chancellor his plan to pursue other opportunities. He will continue as chief communications officer through the end of his annual contract in June,” Scott said. “Tom notified the chancellor of his plans last week in order to provide plenty of time for a smooth transition to new communications leadership.”
Eppes has served the Ole Miss community since January of 2012. Eppes has led the marketing and communication strategies, public relations, advertising, design and printing, photography and social media for the university.
