No. 10 Chad Kelly Rejuvenates Ole Miss Football
Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly finished his junior season with an impressive 48-20 Sugar Bowl win over Oklahoma State.
Kelly came to the Rebels from East Mississippi Community College from winning the NJCAA national championship. Prior to his year at East Mississippi Kelly was at Clemson.
Kelly started every game this season for coach Hugh Freeze and the Rebels. He brought an electric spark to the Ole Miss offense this season. Having a cannon for an arm, he was quick on his feet.
After the Sugar Bowl, Kelly has a efficiency rating of 155.9 in 298 completions out of 458 attempts for a total of 4042 yards passing. He found his receivers 31 times in the end zone. Kelly was intercepted only 13 times all season.
Along with these impressive numbers in the passing game, Kelly added to his stats on the ground with 107 attempts all-year as he netted 500 yards rushing with 10 trips into end zone.
All season long, Kelly was a true driving force for Freeze’s offense which fans witnessed against the Cowboys as he threw the ball for a total of 302 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. Kelly also rushed 73 yards.
Kelly found teammate Laquon Treadwell for three touchdowns in the Sugar Bowl. One of the biggest passes Kelly made in the game was in the final seconds of the half to offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil for a touchdown.
Looking ahead to the 2016 Kelly may possibly break lot more of Ole Miss and SEC passing records.
