Vassallo: The Oklahoma State Cowboys by the Numbers

Oklahoma State is a formidable opponent, Rebel fans. Make no mistake about it.

In reviewing their scoring this year as well as that of their opponents, a couple of interesting observations jump off the page. This team plays hard for four quarters. In other words, they don’t let up! And the stingiest quarter as for their defense is the fourth. If the Rebels are going to defeat them, they better have a lead going into the last frame.

Here’s how they score and yield points:

Cowboys Scoring by Quarters:

Cowboys’ Opponents Scoring by Quarters:
1- 101

4- 65

They appear to be making excellent adjustments at half time especially on defense. Their offense is equally as effective in each half. Although the Rebels are currently a 7 1/2 point favorite, I wouldn’t get too overconfident. The Cowboys’ high level scoring offense is named “Air Raid.” For the Rebs to be successful, the best air attack defense starts with the rush. And the longer Rebels can keep “Air Raid” on the sidelines watching the land (ground) attack, the more effective the Rebels’ defense will be! It’s now time to focus on win No. 10.
