James Howell, owner of Moark Pecans, has been in the pecan business for about six years. Located in Paragould, Arkansas, the Howell family has a 20 acre pecan orchard and help with another 200 acres of pecans.

“We pick certain types of pecans that work well for our candy. We send them to the shelling operation in Hot Coffee, Mississippi, owned by Max Draughn of Bass Pecans,” Howell said. “This operation is run by Greg Saulter of Saulter Farms, which is primarily in the blueberry business. They do a great job with our pecans.”

You might wonder how a pecan business all the way in Arkansas made it to Rebel Rags in Oxford, Mississippi. Howell said Terry Warren, the owner of Rebel Rags, has been a close friend of the family. Howell gave Warren a tin of his pecans and he loved them.

The pecans are perfect for anyone who will be tail gating, hosting parties or just looking for a tasty snack. They are packaged in a easy-to-go box special to Rebel Rags.

“My chocolate pecans are just one small item that fits with his business growth plan of catering to high end ole miss consumers,” Howell said. “Terry is making the supplying of items to tailgaters a priority in his business.”

According to Howell, there is a unique way to making their pecans, and the family keeps the secret to making their pecans close to the family.

“We have a unique method of making our chocolate pecans that sets them apart from other chocolate pecans,” Howell said.

Mo-Ark Pecans also produces honey. Their honey is all natural with no additives. Additionally, they operate a sorghum molasses mill.
