Coach Hugh Freeze addressed the media on Monday morning after a 27-16 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday night.

“Really excited to go to Florida and play a quality opponent”, said coach Freeze. “Florida is playing very well and we have great respect and regard for how the Gators are playing this season.”

Coming into this game, the Rebels are ranked higher than Ole Miss has been ranked since the early 60s. When coach Freeze and his staff began this journey three seasons and four games ago, he stated that he would not promise anyone anything at that point, but fans could expect fanatical effort, great attitude and a willingness to try and make this program relevant not only in the SEC, but in the nation.

“I have to remind myself everyday I have a purpose, I have a calling and I don’t have to guess what that is. My purpose and my calling is to know God and to love people and to use the platform and purpose I have to influence others,” Freeze said.

“That really helps me stay centered and enjoying the journey. We are relevant right now. I don’t know if we are deserving of any ranking; it is a long season and a lot of things can happen that you can’t control.”

Looking at the injured Rebels who are going to try to go this weekend, Justin Bell is going to try to play this week against the Gators.

As the Rebels head into Gainesville this weekend, the team is already talking about how enthused they are to go in and face the Gators at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at the University of Florida.

Coach Freeze stated of offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil  that progress is being made on his return to the field. When he gets on the field, he’s not worried about the rust he might have. “He’s athletic enough that he could function” if available, but no time set on his return.

Chad Kelley played well against Vanderbilt on Saturday, although “he will be the first to tell you that he did not play up to his expectations,” Freeze said.
