Herring-Olvedo: ‘Big Tex’ Coming to Ole Miss
All I have to say is Merry Christmas to the Rebel family who received an early Christmas gift hailing from the Lonestar State Wednesday afternoon.
As a Texan, I’m always happy to welcome a fellow Texan Rebel here to Oxford.
“Big Tex” as I have deemed him (I hope he doesn’t mind) is the five-star Offensive Tackle Greg Little who has officially committed to play for the Rebels. Little comes out of Allen, Texas and he couldn’t come at a more perfect time to help breathe some new life into the Ole Miss’ offensive line, especially with the likely departure of star Tackle Laremy Tunsil to the NFL Draft.
With Little’s announcement and Shea Patterson’s announcement this early this week, the 2016 Rebel recruiting class seems especially great on the offensive side of the ball.
Little will make an impact early. I believe his arrival will be a strong change for a more balanced line the Rebels have been yearning for the past few seasons under Coach Freeze’s watch. Let me say there is nothing “little” about Little who towers with a 6’6″ feet and 305 pounds frame. Make no mistake, this kid is read to work for a starting spot and he can be just what the doctor ordered.
Little comes to the Rebels after a long battle of being sought out by 30 schools and had initially committed to Texas A&M. He is ranked the No. 2-ranked prospect in the 2016 recruiting class, the No. 1 player in the state of Texas and the No. 1 offensive tackle on Scout.com. Don’t let the stats or rankings fool you; this kid is the real deal. Believe me, if you have kept up with him then you can see this kid is hungry, driven and can walk the walk.
The 2016 recruiting class for the Rebels on the offensive Line will have a great boost with Greg Little and will be rounded out nicely with other key line commitments from Bryce Matthews, Eli Johnson and Jack DeFoor in the Class of 2016.
Merry Christmas to the Rebel Family, and welcome “Big Tex” Greg Little to Oxford. The future looks bright so I hope you have your shades on for 2016. What a way to culminate a season…
Now on to the Sugar Bowl!
