Aubrey Edie Named to SEC Community Service Team
Ole Miss junior setter Aubrey Edie was recognized for her efforts off the volleyball court Wednesday, as she was named to the annual Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office announced.
The Fayetteville, Arkansas native has participated in a number of events in the community. Edie helped with the Tornado Disaster Relief Drive for Columbia, Mississippi and with the Batesville Elementary School Supply Drive as they recovered form a devastating fire in July. She spent an off Sunday in volleyball this year helping collect donations for the South Carolina Supply Drive for fellow SEC member South Carolina and the greater Columbia, South Carolina community devastated by the floods. Edie helped with Trunk or Treat Night at soccer and has participated in Reading with the Rebels.
The SEC sponsors community service teams for all 21 league sponsored sports. The community service team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts. The 2015 edition is the 12th annual volleyball community service team.
Edie became the second player in school history to achieve 3,000 career assists and helped the Rebels have two players in the top 10 in the SEC in hitting percentage. She is also a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team selection and has earned spots on the SEC Academic Honor Roll and Chancellor’s Honor Roll.
