Abner’s to Host its Second Annual Christmas Parade Watch Party Benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Oxford
Abner’s Famous Chicken Tenders, established in 1993 by Ole Miss football player Abner White, has become a staple in the L-O-U community.
“The Oxford community has supported me for 26 years and I continually look for opportunities to give back by embracing a worthy organization, one that does great work,” White said.
Honoring that promise, Abner’s is once again hosting a Christmas Parade Watch Party in order to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Oxford.
“We have the best view of the parade in Oxford as it passes right in front of our restaurant … twice,” White said. “We’re located on the corner South Lamar and University Avenue which is a popular spot for the community to gather.”
Last year, Abner’s featured a hot chocolate stand, Christmas lights and made snow in the parking lot for the watch party.
This year, Abner’s plans have evolved making it bigger and better than ever with the addition of a parade-viewing stand featuring bleacher seating for the best Christmas Parade view available.
Hot chocolate and coffee will once again be served in Abner’s Winter Wonderland, with its version of snow falling in the parking lot. Santa is also scheduled to make an appearance and will be taking pictures with the kids before joining the parade.
Abner’s will be donating a percentage of money earned that evening to the Boys & Girls Club of Oxford.
Make plans now to dine with Abner’s on the evening of Dec. 7, then, settle in for the Second Annual Watch Party. Guaranteed, there will be no crowds to fight and plenty of activities for the kids as you wait for the parade to start.
Participants are encouraged to bring blankets, sip hot chocolate, find a seat in parade-viewing bleachers and enjoy the
parade.
Receipts from all meals after 5 p.m. will serve as tickets to the party.
What better way to kick-off the holiday season than this (now) annual Oxford tradition?
Abner’s Parade Watch Party activities begin at 5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 7.
