Oxford Stories: Ole Miss Feature Twirler Shares Her Favorite Things about the Sport
Though Saturdays at Ole Miss are known as game days and for fun in the Grover, one UM student spends her weekends supporting the Rebels in a unique way.
Haley Shiver, 20, an integrated marketing communications major, dedicates her time preparing for the chance to showcase her skills as an Ole Miss feature twirler.
Shiver has been dancing and twirling since she was 2 and has competed and preformed across the globe throughout her lifetime.
After high school, Shiver tried out for the Ole Miss team and became a feature twirler. Since joining the team, Haley has performed and competed and various events across the country. From being interviewed by College Gameday, to having videos of her twirling shown on the news, Shiver shares some of her favorite memories about being a twirler.
Despite the long hours dedicated to practicing, Shiver is also involved in several outside organizations, including the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Though twirling does take up most of her time, she said the chance to support the Rebels and her love of the sport make it worth while.
