Eating Oxford
Landshark Delivery: A Feeding Frenzy
Landshark Delivery has seen growth, expansion and positive feedback from the Oxford community since opening in spring 2015. One of the two owners, Tanner Thompson, said the growth is due to the ongoing support from local customers.
“When we first opened, it was just my business partner Robert and I doing all of the delivery driving,” Thompson said.
According to Thompson, Landshark Delivery now has a total of 16 drivers with plans of hiring more as more restaurants join, which will be soon.
Thompson said he and his business partner, Robert Bettis, did not expect to see the rapid growth in their business this soon.
“Oxford has honestly been amazing, and our customer base is so supportive and wonderful,” Thompson said. “We never expected to grow as fast as we have, and it has to do with how wonderful our customers are.”
Previous to starting Landshark Delivery, Thompson said he and Bettis worked for the same type of company in Tuscaloosa.
“We wanted to break away from Tuscaloosa and bring the idea somewhere we knew it would be successful and Oxford was the perfect place,” Thompson said.
With the rapid growth of Landshark Delivery, the company has recently teamed up with Drinkard Dickinson Insurance (DDI), an insurance company based out of Vacaville, California.
According to Thompson, DDI is the best insurance out there for their company.
“We have known about them for years,” Thompson said. “It just took the growing and funds to finally sign up with such a prestigious insurance. The company in Tuscaloosa used the same insurance. With the new insurance, we are allowed to offer direct deposit to our drivers as well as an added feeling of ease knowing that they make sure each driver is qualified and insured. They hassle our drivers about their insurance being up to date.”
Alex Edmonston, Landshark Delivery driver, has been working with the company for about a month.
Edmonston said being a delivery driver with Landshark is fun and exciting every day.
“I really enjoy driving on campus,” Edmonston said. “It is cool being able to see people you know and deliver them food. It is an overall very interactive job. Robert and Tanner are great guys who have done really successful in their business. It is a young business and it is already growing immensely.”
Edmonston said he makes around 30 to 35 deliveries on any given shift, with most of the orders coming from South Depot Taco Shop on the Square.
According to Thompson, South Depot takes the cake for the highest volume of orders.
“We have done over 3,200 orders with them since we opened,” Thompson said.
As of now, Landshark delivers for 19 restaurants in Oxford with plans to add more very soon.
“We want to grow as much as possible and work with every restaurant we can work with for as long as we can,” Thompson said. “We want to be the staple for delivery in Oxford and provide the best delivery experience for our customers each and every day.”
