Freeze, Rebels Prepare for the LSU Tigers This Weekend
Following a bye weekend, the Ole Miss football team is preparing for this weekend’s matchup against the LSU Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Head coach Hugh Freeze said, “(We) had a good open week, think it was good after the stretch of games we had. From the fall camp plus ten straight games, it was much needed.”
Ole Miss will face two of its oldest rivals in its remaining two games: LSU and Mississippi State.
This weekend, the Tigers will bring into Oxford one of the best running backs in the country: Leonard Fournette.
“It’s a tremendous challenge that you cannot take lightly. You have to gang tackle. You have to run to the football,” Freeze said. “He will go down as just one of the best players to come through this conference.”
LSU is athletically challenging as anyone Ole Miss will face.
“They can run, they are long. They have a good scheme and they play hard so its a difficult challenge,” said Freeze.
Tony Conner returned to practice yesterday after being held out during the bye week.
“I would say he is about 60 percent,” Freeze said. “There are certain things he feels fine about and there are certain things he doesn’t. We will manage that in packages where he can be successful and ask him to do something that he feels comfortable about doing.”
This weekend the Ole Miss secondary will see no personal changes save for Mike Hilton playing in different spots.
Going into the last two weekends of the regular season, the only two teams have a shot at winning the West are Ole Miss and Alabama. But each weekend, any seven teams in the West can beat up on each other at any point in this season.
The Rebels host the Tigers at 2:30 p.m. on CBS. This game concludes the Rebels’ home schedule this season at the Vaught.

Adam,
Did you mean “personnel” instead of “personal”?
