Pop-Up Consignment Shop This Weekend Has Fall, Winter Clothes for Women and Men
There aren’t any games scheduled this weekend for the Ole Miss Rebels, but there will be a game played at the Oxford Consignment’s Pop-Up Event for those who want to score a touchdown on a designer handbag.
This event is this Saturday and Sunday, November 14 – 15, at the Oxford Shrine Club at 618 McLarty Road near the Walgreens and the new McDonald’s on University Avenue. The shopping times are Saturday at 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The owners of Oxford Consignment are Myra Green Grissinger and Amberlyn Melton Liles who have brought three annual events through this organization since 2012.
Oxford Consignment offers three events a year: two adult clothing sales for men and women with one home decor and furniture sale. Grissinger and Liles have a mission: the shoppers will be offered “the best from the best” as they peruse a selection of fashionable clothes and accessories at eye-catching prices. Kate Spade, Doncaster and Louis Vuitton are among the labels that shoppers may spy this weekend.
Grissinger and Liles said that this is going to be the best event yet. They signed up 30 new consignors with 10 more spots open.
After paying the $15 registration fee, the consignors place price tags on clothing, shoes and accessories which must all be no older than three years. They then bring their items during a scheduled time Thursday, November 12 or Friday, November 13. Over that weekend, the consignors can earn 70 percent of the sale prices. On Sunday, November 15, the consigners can either pick up the remaining items or leave them to be donated to charity at Holding Hands Resale Shop.
The consignors have a bonus in addition to 70 percent of the sales: they can shop on November 13 at 6 p.m. with a plus one as well as a half-off discount at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
They also need plenty of volunteers to help them with this weekend’s event. Whoever volunteers in the provided two-hour shifts will enjoy these perks: shopping with one guest at 5 p.m. Friday, November 13. They also get a half-off discount on Saturday at 4 p.m. Both of these bonuses are an hour earlier than the consignors.
The volunteers will need to help wipe down and set up racks on Thursday, November 12 and then help take down the merchandise from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 15. They will also place items on the sale floor by size and description before the event opens. During the event, they will help customers and check them out during the sales. They will have to be watchful for shoplifters too.
Grissinger and Liles started Oxford Consignment in 2012. They were looking to clean out their homes and closets with items that just seemed too good for a yard sale (or maybe they were too financially attached). So, they developed the neat idea of a Pop-Up Consignment Shop Sales Event three times a year.
