Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, 6 – 8

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 18 suspicious activities, 16 disturbances, 14 alarms, eight improper parking, eight lost properties, seven welfare concerns, six malicious mischiefs, four civil matters, four ambulance assists, three simple assaults, three petit larcenies, three careless driving, two 911 hang up calls, two trespassings, two harassments, two fire department assists, a recovered property, a code violation, and a noise violation.

Oxford police investigated 21 wrecks, issued 98 traffic citations and made 54 arrests on the following charges:

(3) Speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia
(2) Warrants served
(2) Careless driving and DUI
Shoplifting
Domestic violence
Minor in possession
Expired tag and DUI
Failure to yield and DUI
Malicious mischief and fake ID
Wrong way on an one-way and DUI
Public intoxication and fake ID
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Speeding, resisting arrest and DUI
Speeding, careless driving and DUI
Possession of Schedule II narcotics
Simple assault and public intoxication
Careless driving and a minor in possession
Careless driving and possession with intent
Disturbing the peace and public intoxication
Possession of drug paraphernalia and fake ID
Careless driving, no driver’s license and DUI
Careless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia
Public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia
Disturbing the peace and possession of drug paraphernalia
Possession of drug paraphernalia and suspended driver’s license
Public intoxication, fake ID and Possession of Schedule IV narcotics

University police responded to the following incidents:

Disturbance at the Student Union
A report of a suspicious person at Burns Hall
Public drunk, fake ID and possession of alcohol by minor on Poole Drive
Saturday, November 7
Public drunk on Poole Drive
Public drunk at Martin Hall
Traffic detail at Sigma Nu house
Report of possession of alcohol by minor
Possession of alcohol by minor and loud music at Kappa Alpha fraternity house
Public drunk, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest at Kappa Alpha fraternity house
Sunday, November 8
Four vehicle stops
Disturbance of peace at Lamar Hall
Petit larceny at the Ole Miss Union

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents:
Friday, November 6
Canceled call at 3:20 p.m. at 400 Orrwood Drive
Smoke detector malfunction at 5:16 p.m. at 2409 South Lamar
Smoke detector activation at 9:06 p.m. by an aerosol spray at The Village
Saturday, November 7
Smoke detector malfunction at 1:33 a.m. at Sigma Nu house
Smoke detector malfunction at 2:36 a.m. at Solo Apartments
Smoke detector malfunction at 4:07 a.m. at 906 Old Taylor Road
Smoke detector activated at 7:27 p.m. by cooking at 212 Ridgewood Manor
Smoke detector malfunction at 7:43 p.m. at Phi Kappa Psi
Sunday, November 8
Smoke detector malfunction at 2:40 a.m. at Solo Apartments
Three-year-old child’s leg stuck in a bed rail at 10:58 a.m. at 702 Happy Lane and the firefighters used spreaders to get the leg out.
Smoke detector activated at 5:27 p.m. by cooking at 300 Fazio Drive
Small oven fire at 7:56 p.m. at The Connection – the resident had the fire out upon arrival
