Ole Miss Softball Concludes Fall Practice
Ole Miss Softball fall practice came to a close Thursday at the Softball Complex with the Rebels getting the 19-0 win over Memphis.
Ole Miss hit on all cylinders in the fall finale Thursday night, performing well in almost every phase of the game.
“This was the best way to close out our fall season,” head coach Mike Smith said. “We’ve preached details and all the little things. We’ve added a lot of stuff this year even for our returners that we didn’t do last year, so a lot of stuff was new.”
“We really took care of business,” Smith added. “We did almost everything exactly the way we wanted to.”
Throughout the fall, Smith has mentioned the puzzle the staff is putting together to find the right starting lineup. After the final fall scrimmage, he echoed the tough task he has ahead.
“Today they made it even harder as far as positions and battling,” Smith said. “We’re very deep in some positions so I have a tough job ahead of me, but it’s a fun job knowing the depth we have and the exciting times ahead for Ole Miss Softball.”
The win over Memphis concluded the eight game fall schedule where Ole Miss went 7-1, including two opponents that will appear on the 2016 schedule. The two division one opponents gave the Rebels a good opportunity to learn against quality competition.
Ole Miss’ season gets underway in early February with a trip to Hawaii for the Paradise Classic hosted by the University of Hawaii. Stay tuned to OleMissSports.com for the full schedule release on November 9.
