Eating Oxford: 3 Blind Wines Returns Wednesday, November 11
If you loved 3 Blind Wines before, you’ll really dig it now. This year’s event, happening Wednesday, November 11, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Powerhouse, will introduce Oxford’s wine lovers to a whole new buffet of endless wine.
In previous years, the event focused only on red wines, but this year, according to Wayne Andrews, Director of the Arts Council, guests are invited to share reds, whites or blues!
Organized by the Rotary Club of Oxford and the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, the annual 3 Blind Wines event encourages Oxford wine lovers to share favorite wines with other locals while exploring a wide variety of new wines.
Snacks are, of course, provided, to help keep things at a semi-sober level. Proceeds from the event support the Moak Scholarship Fund offered by the Rotary Club of Oxford and the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council.
“Most fundraisers require you dress up,” says Andrews. “This event is just like having friends over for wine and cheese.”
During the never-a-dull-moment event, guest vote for their favorite wines with the owner of the winning wine taking home a full cellar of wine at the end of the night! Needless to say, the roar of jealous clapping is deafening as all of the bottles are revealed and everyone rushes to see which wines made their list of favorites.
“You don’t have to know anything about wine except what you like,” says Andrews. “The event is simply people sharing the wine that they love. It’s as if you went to a wine shop and had the chance to sip from every bottle before you made your choice.”
Tickets for 3 Blind Wines are $35 per couple/team plus three bottles of the same wine or $100 per couple/team with a sommelier selecting the wines. The event takes place Wednesday, November 11, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center.
Tickets can be purchased at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center, by calling 662-236-6429, or online at www.oxfordarts.com.
