Oxford Stories: UM Student Hopes to Ambush the Alcohol Market
A University of Mississippi student hopes to Ambush the market with a new alcohol supply business.
Qadree Williams, 22, a senior business marketing major, wants to expand his small alcohol and liquor catering company called Ambush that provides drinks at parties, events and personal occasions.
Williams started the company nearly two years ago after deciding to make alcoholic beverages for gatherings that his friends were having. These gatherings began as small get-togethers, but turned into full party events.
“I started this business to create a base for myself and my family,” he said. “I know that my product has the potential to truly be something great, and I choose to push for greatness with everything that I have to offer.”
Williams defines his business as the perfect blend of alcohol and fruit mixed together to give the consumer a “smooth, tasteful and enjoyable drinking experience.”
Ambush is meant to do exactly what the name says – sneak and surprise with fruit flavored juices mixed with the liquor of the consumer’s choice.
Williams promotes Ambush by encouraging family and friends to spread the word. Fellow students also promote the brand.
“I really enjoy the products of Ambush,” said Erin Patterson, a friend of Williams and supporter of Ambush. “It is a fruity type of drink that sneaks up on you. They are very tasteful and they are a good price.”
Williams plans to take Ambush from local to regional bars. He hopes the business will eventually become world known. He also wants to create his own alcohol line with bottled products sold in stores.
“My ultimate goal is to create a successful empire off a dream that I am actively pursuing,” he said.
Williams passes out business cards and drink samples at sporting, business and other miscellaneous events. He encourages his supporters to help promote the company.
“It is very close to me because of the work and dedication that I had to put in order for me to get as far as I am today,” he said. “I plan to constantly revise my recipe, push for my products to be recognized by more people, and establish it on a national level for the true potential that it holds.”
