Have a Spooktacular Halloween in Oxford!
Halloween weekend is approaching. It’s time to get a move on that costume you’ve been thinking about.
Although some plan to follow the football team to their victory in Auburn, many of us plan on gathering our squad in Oxford to attend fun parties and events. Excitingly, Halloween lands on a Saturday this year! There will be events going on before and during Halloween weekend that you’ll want to check out.
Family and Child-Friendly:
Oxford Police Department is presenting their seventh annual haunted house on October 27, 28 and 29. You can check out the haunted house at six p.m. at the Oxford Police Department. There will be a small fee of $3 to attend, but all proceeds go to Oxford Peace Officers Association! Not to worry, they will also have child-friendly activities.
On October 30, Guyton Hall located on Ole Miss’ campus will be hosting its annual haunted house from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. You are encouraged to show off your costume if you plan on attending! There will be games, candy, prizes and family fun.
Panhellenic sororities will be located in the Grove on October 30 at 4 p.m. to pass out candy. All are welcome to attend in the Oxford Community, but it’s mainly for children to get more use of their costumes, and have some fun leading up to Halloween!
College Student Friendly:
Would you really not want to stop by one of the top bars in the nation according to Buzzfeed?! Funky’s plans on hosting a party on Halloween night you won’t forget. You’ll want to dress in your best costume because there will be a $300 cash prize for the winner! Not only is there a costume contest, but they plan on having specials every hour as well. Everyone loves a good Katy Perry or Taylor Swift!
If you’re 21, Proud Larry’s located on the square is hosting their “Code Pink” party with The Sarah ISOM Center for Women and Gender Studies + UM Pride Network on October 29 at 9 p.m. There will be DJ’s and, of course, a costume contest, so dress up! There will only be a five-dollar cover to get in. Check out their Facebook page for more details on getting tickets ahead of time.
Bring out your best costume on Halloween because Phi Psi’s one and only hall crawl is just around the corner. If you are of age you can hop from room to room and enjoy a different drink! As always their parties are a blast, there will be music and fun!
That’s not all: most of the fraternities will be hosting parties on Halloween night for some festive fun, and for everyone to show off their costumes! As always you can’t go wrong by heading to the Square for some drinks and music!
