Oxford Crime Report: Thursday, October 22
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: seven alarms, three noise violations, two suspicious activities, two disturbances, two fire department assists, two welfare concerns, two civil matters, two auto burglaries at Promenade Parkway and Highway 278, a simple assault, a malicious mischief, a public intoxication, an animal complaint, a harassing phone call, a 911 hang up and a credit card fraud.
Oxford police investigated five wrecks, issued 26 traffic citations and made 14 arrests on the following charges:

Open container
Careless driving and DUI
Domestic violence – simple assault
One headlight and minor in possession
Speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia
University police responded to the following incidents: four vehicle stops, traffic detail on Student Union Drive, public drunk at Stockard Hall, report of lost property at Brown Hall, and a possession of a weapon on school property at Sorority Circle.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Smoke detector activation at 11:19 a.m. by burned food at Northgate Apartment B107
Cancelled call at 12:30 p.m. before the firefighters left station by Baptist Memorial Hospital
Cancelled call at 3:30 p.m. before the firefighters left station by Hermitage Gardens
Smoke in residence at 5:34 p.m. caused by an oven cleaner at Molly Barr Ridge Apartment 503
Smoke detector malfunction at 6:28 p.m. at Alpha Tau Omega house
Hot water heater element shorted out at 7:15 p.m. at 400 Ross Avenue
Unfounded call at 7:47 p.m. about a smoke detector at Thad Cochran Center
Small grass fire at 11:43 p.m. at the entrance to Wayne Johnson at South 18th Street extended
