Vassallo: The Five Game Season Starts Now
The trifecta of Laquon Treadwell, Laremy Tunsil and Robert Nkemdiche is undoubtedly the best trio of talented players in the NCAA.
No other team in the country can equal the talents of these three superstars. The time has arrived when these first round draft choices must assume the leadership role for this team. Similar to Peria Jerry, Eli Manning and Deuce McAllister in years past, this group has now reached their destiny in equaling those performances of yesteryear.
The SEC West is still up for grabs despite this team being soundly beaten by two undefeated teams on the road. Regardless of what Alabama does from this point forward, the Ole Miss Rebels control their own destiny.
The Texas A&M game this Saturday is the first must-win game in Hugh Freeze’s coaching tenure in Oxford. Losing is not an option. A loss, unthinkable as it may be, will erode the fan support faster than it took for Donald Trump to criticize the Democrats’ debate. Of the five remaining games, the A&M game could be the easiest of those left. Here’s why.
Auburn and Mississippi State are both away and the memory of Gainesville and Memphis are still a haunting, lingering concern. The Arkansas game, although here, is troublesome.
The Hogs are sporting a 2-4 worksheet despite close road losses to Texas A&M (seven points in OT) and 13 shy of Alabama’s 27 point tally. Their road win in Knoxville was most impressive and the blowout victory over the Rebs last year should have their confidence high.
LSU is always difficult regardless of the situation that both teams find themselves.
With Tunsil returning and hopefully a number of others from injury, this team can quickly right the ship. A team that defeated Alabama on the road earlier this year, and what could be the Tide’s only loss, is capable of defeating anyone.
Anything’s possible in Oxford. We’ve all been there before. Hotty Toddy my friends.

It’s all before us Rebs so go out there Saturday and play with all you’ve got! Win six in a row and we make the playoff! Make no mistake, the SEC Champ will be in the playoff even if they have two losses!
