College Board Could Announce New Ole Miss Chancellor Monday

Sources close to the Board of Trustees of Institutions of Higher Learning confirm the College Board has an 8 a.m. conference call Monday after which the new Chancellor of Ole Miss could be named.
One of the leading candidates mentioned most frequently in political and alumni leadership circles is Jeffery S. Vitter, Executive Vice President and Provost at the University of Kansas.
Vitter, 59, is a native of New Orleans and is a highly regarded educator. He is said to be in the the pool of candidates for President of the University of Arkansas. He was a leading candidate for the position of Provost at Mississippi State University several years ago.
If Vitter is named, he will be the 17th Chancellor of Ole Miss.
