Trezevant Reveals Stores Appearing in New Shopping District, Galleria II
Oxford is a city with yesterday’s charm, but by 2016 it can be a shopping destination in North Mississippi. John Trezevant, president of Trezevant Realty, has radically transformed west Oxford into a bustling shopping district with a new development on the horizon: Galleria II by summer of 2016.
John Trezevant is responsible for the growth of shopping opportunities to the west of Oxford, and Galleria II is his current project in the city. The plans for the Galleria II are complete and the store construction will begin this November. By this summer, Galleria II will have 25 new shops and restaurants.
He said, “We have many new and exciting shops and restaurants coming to Oxford for the first time. Dick’s Sporting Goods, Ross Dress for Less, Marshall’s, ULTA, Five Below, Shoe Carnival to name a few. Galleria has one more big box pad on the north end that we are finalizing our deal with that adds to our mix of exciting new shopping opportunities. Twenty-five new shops and dining experiences of all categories will be arranged through out the shopping center, including Mugshots Grill and Bar in a freestanding building at the eastern main entry off Home Depot Drive complete with its own outside covered patio and Coyote Blue Restaurant and Bar with a Tex-Mex Cajun flair, added to its outside patio music and entertainment motif. New stores and restaurants will be announced separately.”
Below is the map of how Galleria II will appear.
With this upcoming development funded by the Bank of Oxford and in partnership with the Davis Family Trust, John Trezevant has come full-circle. The 20-acre development will occupy the land between Galleria I to the 14-building office park Parkway Centre to the north of the new shopping district. Across the Jackson Avenue from the shopping districts is Oxford Marketplace, Trezevant’s first shopping development in the city.
The new shopping district will be accessible on Merchants Boulevard off the Jackson Avenue.
To him, Oxford is more than a small city: it is a beloved city of opportunities. He said, “Oxford has so much to offer: SEC sports, theater and arts, and a great family atmosphere all around.”
National merchants such as Ann Taylor Loft have told Trezevant Oxford is a remarkable place. He said, “Ten years ago, Loft wouldn’t consider Oxford. And now Loft is exceeding all their expectations here.”
Trezevant has not only brought the Loft store but also Chili’s and Zaxby’s found in Oxford Marketplace as well as Newk’s, Chic-fil-a and Belk department store in Galleria I. Due to Trezevant’s development, Oxford has changed considerably as a shopping destination.
Trezevant believes that Oxford can be more than a shopping destination for many residents in north Mississippi: more college students can find jobs in Oxford if they wish to stay during the summer or even after graduation.
He said, “They will have more reasons to stay in Oxford during the summer: part-time job opportunities, as well as shopping and entertainment. College kids will have a chance to work in Oxford without ever leaving even after graduation.”
Oxford has changed considerably, especially to its west. When Trezevant Realty first opened Oxford Marketplace in 2002, the university was significantly smaller then. Even then 12 years ago, he saw potential.
“Oxford is a small city with big time spenders,” said Trezevant. “The university will continue to grow so Oxford needs more to offer in the city and attract institutions like the FNC and Baptist Memorial to bring careers to the city.”
Building Galleria II by itself will support job growth in the city: including construction positions, electricians, landscapers, plumbers and other skilled tradesman and workers.
“Our Grand Opening will happen Summer 2016 in time for all school openings,” said Trezevant.

Please bring something over on or off Hwy 7. Too much traffic on that side of town.

How about a Target??? It’s a shame our college kids have to depend on Wal-Mart for everything!!!

A place to buy a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread would be very beneficial to the local neighborhood.

I like Oxford because it does not have all the stores listed above. Keep Oxford quaint!

Everywhere changes. I think it will be nice to be able to shop in town. Everyone can’t afford the square and boutique shopping. Our Tax $ will stay here and not in Southhaven or Memphis

Junk, Trash, more Junk. Out of town owners so money leaves town. Low paying jobs. Are we suppose to be excited about this? What’s the contribution to the arts?
