Oxford Crime Report: Monday, October 12
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: four disturbances, three lost properties, two alarms, two suspicious activities, a careless driver, a malicious mischief, a trespassing, a fire department assist, an improper parking, a harassment, a civil matter, an ambulance assist, a petit larceny, a 911 hang up call, a shoplifting and a grand larceny.
Oxford police investigated nine wrecks, issued 21 traffic citations and made two arrests on the following charges:
Domestic violence – simple assault, malicious mischief, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest
Possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule II narcotics
University police responded to the following incidents: five vehicle stops, suspicious vehicle at Whirlpool Trails, suspicious person at Kappa Kappa Gamma house, possession of alcohol by minor at Stockard Hall, and a driving without headlights with a fake ID on Rebel Drive.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Fire at 4:52 p.m. caused by a power line arcing on some pine straw at All American Drive at The University of Mississippi
Fire alarm activation at 5:06 p.m. at Minor Hall caused by a campus-wide power outage
Fire at 7:07 p.m. by a motor malfunction in the mechanical room at Ventress Hall
Prank pull of fire alarm at 11:14 p.m. at The Connection Building 8
Smoke detector malfunction at 11:31 p.m. at Chi Omega house
