What’s Hotty(Toddy) Weekend Countdown October 8-11, 2015:
#5 2015 Food Day Festival & Farmers Market at University of Mississippi
Thursday October 8 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) at Student Union Plaza
A farmers market comes to visit the Ole Miss campus on Thursday in celebration of real and healthy local food, complete with a mobile farm bus. The event’s inception in 2011 was to raise awareness at Ole Miss about the importance of producing and consuming real food. For more information about all 2015 Food Day events, visit the event’s website.
#4 Theatre Oxford’s 10 Minute Play Festival
Thursday October 8 (7 p.m.) at Powerhouse Community Center
Thursday is the start of the Theatre Oxford’s 10 Minute Play Festival, which runs through October 11th. Tickets are just $15 for non-members at $10 for members of Theatre Oxford or students to see award-winning plays from local directors. Tickets are available online for the performances on October 8, 9 and 11th. Support local art!
Tuesday October 13 (8 p.m.) at Powerhouse Community Center
While this event technically does not fall over the weekend, it deserves a spot on the countdown. The name alone bring curiosity. Similar to The Voice (with a literary punch), artists read their own works for seven minutes or less and then are judged by 3 all-star judges to see who survives to the next round. The final two are submitted to a death-match literary game (unlike it’s old namesake inspiration, the cartooned MTV “Celebrity Deathmatch” which involved a boxing ring) to determine the champion. Cost for students is $10 and general admission is $15.
#2 LOFT Benefit: The Molly Ringwalds in Concert
Friday October 9 (7:30 p.m.) at The Lyric
Stop out to The Lyric to support the Lafayette Oxford Foundation for Tomorrow and catch a great show by The Molly Ringwalds. Doors open at 7 p.m. and Molly Ringwald takes the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets are available online at Ticketfly for $35, or are $20 with a student ID at the box office.

#1 Ole Miss Homecoming Festivities: Ole Miss vs. New Mexico State
Friday October 9 & Saturday October 10 (11 a.m.) at Vaught-Hemmingway Stadium
Festivities start Friday night with the homecoming parade and pep rally down University Ave. beginning at 5:30 p.m. The men’s and women’s basketball teams will also be showing off their skills at Square Jam post- pep rally. Football game time is early at 11 a.m., but look for the Rebels to come out swinging after a tough loss last weekend. Wear red and hit The Grove pre-game, then make your way to the stadium to cheer on our boys!
