Ole Miss Volleyball Falls to Mississippi State at Home on Sept. 27
Ole Miss played against their rival Mississippi State University on Sept. 27 at the Gillom Sports Center in Oxford. The stands were packed with almost 1,000 attendees, making an awesome crowd!
Ole Miss lost with a final score of 0-3. This loss broke their winning streak of a consistent six winning matches. Both teams started out strong, but ending with Mississippi State in the lead of the first set with a score of 25-17.
Ole Miss started with 2 blocks in the first set. In the second set, the score was close, but Mississippi State was still in the lead with a score of 25-23. In the last set with Ole Miss still down with a score of 25-18.
The Rebels might have lost to their rival Mississippi State, but will come back in the next game against South Carolina with the intensity of the first two sets against Florida, which didn’t happen today.
Head Coach Steven McRoberts responded, “That’s definitely something we encourage and something we saw Friday night against Florida. I feel like they came out with the same urgency and intensity that we did.”
McRoberts said that Coach McFatrich is doing a great job with them. “Now it’s time to convince them again. Every match in the SEC is earned. We are still working hard to create that culture and mind set here, we go out and play our best every single time. Hats off to State! They came in and played aggressive.”
Nakeyeta Clair had two solo blocks and has to make two more to break the record. Clair said, “It’s something I’m looking forward to breaking, just taking it game by game and focusing on the middles that are in that game.”
Clair also stated the following about the next fight against Mississippi State: “Well, that’s our last game, and we basically just have to come for blood. We’ll find the fight that we need. When we go down to the Bulldogs, we’ll show up the way we need to.”
This Friday, Ole Miss will return to battle against South Carolina at 6:30 p.m.

Hello Ole Miss Volleyball,
The single most important reason why any volleyball team looks dysfunctional is because of bad communication. It’s easy to fix with a right tool.
