Fenton Kottkamp Memorial Scholarship Project Launches
Dear Friends,
This past February we lost our son and brother Fenton Kottkamp in an accident. It is a tragedy we will never understand, but through this difficult time we have found comfort in a scholarship endowment started by our dear friends, John and Annette Schnatter, and Ole Miss alumni Archie and Olivia Manning. We are launching an Ignite Ole Miss campaign with the hopes of building the endowment to a level that will produce two annual scholarships – one to an accountancy major and another to a business major.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 29, 1992, Fenton would have marked his 23rd birthday this month. Our outgoing, welcoming, funny, kind, adventuresome, and loving son was a graduate of Anchorage Public School and DuPont Manual High School, as well as a member of St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church in Louisville. Fenton was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and was an avid, avid Ole Miss Rebel and Louisville Cardinals fan.
Fenton was poised to graduate from Ole Miss in May this year and would have begun pursuing a master’s degree in accountancy. During commencement exercises Dr. Mark Wilder, dean of the Patterson School of Accountancy, presented his Ole Miss diploma to us, his family. It was a touching moment for us and, of course, for Fenton’s classmates. We cannot begin to express our profound appreciation for the outpouring of support that has come from the extraordinary Ole Miss Family.
We know that Fenton will always be a beloved member of the Ole Miss Family, and we now ask that you please join in building his scholarship. We love thinking of the young people who will be able to experience Ole Miss in Fenton’s name. Please also become an ambassador of Fenton’s campaign by sharing this page via email and on social media. We will always love Ole Miss.
