‘Art On The Move’ Reception to Take Place Friday
Oxford Treehouse Gallery is holding a Fall Collector’s Event today through October 24.
The opening reception is tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at Oxford Treehouse Gallery’s studio at 328 County Road 418 in Oxford. The name of the reception is called “Art on the Move” because unlike protocol from other exhibits, buyers will be encouraged to take their purchases with them and not have to wait until the show is over.
Vivian and Walter Neill (of Oxford Treehouse Gallery) and Milly West (art collector and founder of Southside Gallery) will offer a wide variety of their art collected over the years.
West’s collection comes from her years at Southside Gallery and ongoing trips to Cuba, where she has become friends with some of Cuba’s best artists.
Photos for sale include work by Eudora Welty, Martin Dain, Ernest Withers, and William Eggleston. Work by important Cuban naïve painters, poster makers and print makers will be in the show, along with work on paper by members of The Hermitage Group and the late Robert Brady of Memphis.
The prices will vary widely. Some works will be priced under $100, and most will be under $1,000. Many of the artists in Art on the Move have shown nationally and are featured in museums across the south.
