Northwest Mississippi Community College to Celebrate Homecoming Oct. 3
Students, faculty, staff, Northwest alumni and friends of the college are invited to the Senatobia campus on Saturday, Oct. 3 as Northwest Mississippi Community College holds its Homecoming game and festivities.
The Northwest Alumnus of the Year, Dr. Jason Walton, head of Jackson Preparatory School will be honored during the luncheon. Entertainment for the event will be provided by Northwest students.
Also during Homecoming festivities, Northwest will induct new members of the Sports Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees are Nikita Taylor, basketball, 2003-2005; Andre Rone, football, 1994-1996; Joe Boyles, four-sport letterman, 1961-1963; Marc Dukes, men’s basketball coach, 1994-1998; Jack Roberson, rodeo, 1976-1978 and Galen Young, basketball, 1994-1996.
There will be a “Meet and Greet” time for Northwest community friends and alumni in the David M. Haraway Center from 10 a.m. – noon.
“Our community friends and alumni are invited to join us for lunch. You have two options: you may join us for the Homecoming Celebration Luncheon (seating is limited to first 250) where our program will begin promptly at noon. Here we will recognize our Sports Hall of Fame inductees and the alumnus of the year, or you may choose to have lunch in the cafeteria where there is no program,” said Dolores Wooten, director of Alumni Affairs and Development Operations.
The buffet line for either option will run from 11a.m. – 1 p.m. The deadline to make reservations for lunch is September 21. Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children.
On Homecoming Day at 1:30 p.m., the pre-game show will begin at Ranger Stadium. The Rangers will take on the Holmes Bulldogs in the game beginning at 2 p.m. The 2015 Homecoming Court will be introduced, and a new queen from each campus will be crowned during halftime festivities.
