United Way of Oxford & Lafayette County Kicks Off Campaign with Luncheon Wednesday
United Way of Oxford & Lafayette County will kick off its 45th annual campaign Wednesday afternoon with a community luncheon presented by Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi and catered by Taylor Grocery.
The event will take place at 12 p.m. at the Oxford Conference Center, and doors will open at 11:45 a.m.
The purpose of the luncheon is to thank the many volunteers and donors who are supporting United Way’s 2015 campaign as well as inspire other community members and organizations to support United Way of Oxford & Lafayette County.
Each year, United Way of Oxford & Lafayette County provides hundreds of thousands of dollars to programs and coalitions serving Lafayette County. The needs in the Oxford and Lafayette community are high, and requests for funding far outstrip its availability, making a successful 2015 campaign critical for L.O.U.’s future.
Ninety-nine percent of the yearly funds raised in Lafayette County stay in Lafayette County (with just 1 percent going to United Way Worldwide as a network membership fee). Last year, United Way raised approximately $530,000 in funds for local programs, and this year, it is aiming higher.
Programs and coalitions funded by United Way during 2015-2016 are listed on the United Way of Oxford & Lafayette County website: www.unitedwayoxfordms.org.
United Way of Oxford & Lafayette County is supported by a strong and growing community of individuals, businesses, and public entities. A full list of sponsors and local business pacesetters will be available on the Kick Off program.
