Manda True gave her friend Chelsea Clark a very special gift Saturday: She brought Chelsea to campus to tailgate in the Grove and watch the Rebels beat the Fresno State Bulldogs. This was 14-year-old Chelsea’s first time in the Grove!

Read Manda’s account of the day below.

“With some help from my Rebel family, I was able to treat my dear friend, 14-year-old St. Jude patient Chelsea Clark, to her first trip to the Grove to see the Rebels beat Fresno State!

We started our day off at St Jude and hit the interstate straight to the Oxford Square, where Whitney Foster, owner of Material Girls, had someone open the store early for us so that Chelsea could have the VIP shopping experience for the perfect game day outfit.

They gifted her an adorable navy dress with all the accessories and shoes needed to complete her look! We then headed out to campus to park and hitch a ride via golf cart to the Grove!

A dear friend and longtime Rebel supporter, Holmes Petty, gifted us an awesome parking pass for less walking and also perfect seats in the shade so that we could keep Chelsea feeling her best!

She had the best time at the Walk of Champions and visiting various tents in The Grove! She says she can’t wait to graduate high school and come to Ole Miss.

I think the two days I look forward to most are the day I can see her walk out of St. Jude cancer free and the day I get to see her join thousands of other Ole Miss freshman run the Rebel Run across the field!

Please remember that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and without the amazing staff and teams at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, kids around the world just like Chelsea would not get days like this, or the cures they all desperately need!

Thank you to my Rebel family for showing such amazing hospitality to my dear friend and for giving us one of the best days EVER! It is one we will never forget!”
