Oxford Crime Report: Thursday, September 10
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: five suspicious activities, four alarms, three noise violations, three animal complaints, two scams, two careless driving, two civil matters two welfare concerns, two improper parking, two disturbances, a public intoxication, a 911 hang up call, an ambulance assist, a petit larceny, a house burglary at Wildwood Lane and a malicious mischief.
Oxford police investigated nine wrecks, issued 27 traffic citations and made 20 arrests on the following charges:

(2) Minor in possession of alcohol
(2) Careless driving and DUI
Fake ID
Noise violation
Speeding and minor in possession of alcohol
Minor in possession of alcohol and open container
Careless driving, no driver’s license, no insurance and DUI
Public intoxication, fake ID, and possession of Schedule IV narcotics
Careless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance, no seatbelt and DUI
University police responded to the following incidents: seven vehicle stops, possession of alcohol by a minor in Stockard Hall, and a vandalism at Crosby Hall.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Sprinkler system activation at 12:41 a.m. by a grease fire at Taylor Bend 307
General fire alarm malfunction at 12:41 a.m. at the Pittman Hall
Smoke detector activation at 2:50 p.m. by workers sanding sheetrock at 402 North 14th Street #3
Smoke detector malfunction at 3:48 p.m. at Sigma Pi house – the fire department was initially dispatched to the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house
Fire at 4:23 p.m. due to jumper cables overloading the vehicle battery causing the plastic box and battery to catch fire in Crosby Hall parking lot
Smoke detector activation this Friday morning at 1:56 a.m. caused by burned food in the microwave at Stockard Hall #602
