What’s Hotty(Toddy) This Week, September 10-13 2015:
#5: Midtown Farmer’s Market
Saturday September 12 (7-11 a.m.)
Get an early start to your Saturday by picking up all the fixings for weekend football dips and treats- freshly grown by local farmers! This recurring Saturday morning market is also open on Wednesday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
See the Midtown Farmer’s Market Facebook page for additional details on product availability or the event website.
#4: Leigh Anne Tuohy with Turn Around at Square Books
Friday September 11 (5 p.m.)
From The Blind Side fame, Ms. Tuohy will be stopping by Square Books in Oxford to discuss her newest five day per week devotional book, Turn Around, which encourages the reader to be generous and give sacrificially to one’s own community. The book is available for purchase through Square Books for $19.99. For additional information, visit Square Books.
#3: Earphunk at The Lyric
Thursday September 10 (8 p.m.)
Earphunk, a prog-funk jam band, is sure to bring some high energy to Oxford Thursday night. Look for on-stage improvisation and layers of sound in support of their album (and title track) “Sweet Nasty.” For a snapshot of Earphunk’s sound and to download some of their tracks for free (so you can jam right along with them), check out their website. General Admission tickets are just $12 through Ticketfly in advance, or $15 day of show.
#2: Jimmy “Duck” Holmes at Proud Larry’s
Thursday September 10 (8 p.m.)
The Ole Miss Entertainment Law Organization (MELO) is hosting a blues-filled event with legendary American blues musician Jimmy “Duck” Holmes performing at Proud Larry’s on Thursday night. This celebration of blues also features George McConnell, Rob Robinson, Brian Ward and special guests The Devil Music Co. Tickets are $12 at the door.
#1: Ole Miss v. Fresno State Football
Saturday September 12 (2:30 p.m.)
The weather is supposed to be cooler temperature-wise, but the football boys are ready to scorch Fresno State (like that 76-3 romp last weekend,) so pack up that cooler. Head down to The Grove dressed in your best navy blue and cheer on the Rebs at the Vaught for game day on Saturday. HYDR!
Kristen Schalter is a first-year law student (1L) at Ole Miss. She hails from Tampa, Florida and is a loyal Detroit Tigers fan. Want your event to be a part of the What’s Hotty(Toddy) weekend countdown? Questions or comments? Email Kristen at schalterk@gmail.com.
