Ole Miss’ McRoberts Wins 500th Match
It was a milestone day for Ole Miss head coach Steven McRoberts, as he picked up his 500th career win in the Rebels’ 3-1 victory against McNeese State in the first match of the day here at the Gillom Sports Center. Unfortunately, the Rebels dropped the second match 3-2 to UT Martin.
The Rebels are now 4-1 on the season as they head to Raleigh, North Carolina this weekend for the NC State Hilton Garden Inn Cary Classic.
After Ole Miss went ahead 10-6 in the fifth set on a kill by Melanie Crow, the SkyHawks went on a 9-3 run to close out the Rebels 15-13 for the match.

• Head coach Steven McRoberts notched win No. 500 with the victory against McNeese State. He is in his 19th year of coaching, which includes stops at Lubbock Christian University, Central Arkansas and Tulsa before taking over at Ole Miss.
• Against McNeese State, Kate Gibson had 11 kills. Freshman Kathryn Cather hit .381 with 10 kills. Ty Laporte hit .429 on eight kills. Aubrey Edie had 39 assists.
• In the loss to UT Martin, Nakeyta Clair, this week’s SEC Offensive Player of the Week, tallied 16 kills on a .464 clip. Melanie Crow saw her first action of the season and had 12 kills against the SkyHawks.
• Freshman Alexis Lee posted nine kills on a .350 clip, including a couple of big ones in the fifth set as the Rebels led 7-3.
The Rebels will face host NC State in the first round of the Hilton Garden Inn Cary Classic Friday at 6 p.m. CT. On Saturday, the Rebels will meet Delaware at 9 a.m. followed by Jacksonville University at 3:30 p.m. to close out the tournament.
