Oxford Crime Report: Tuesday, September 1
DeShannon Price – Possession of a Stolen Firearm
On September 1, 2015, investigators with the Oxford police department charged DeShannon Price, 19 of Taylor, with possession, sale and transfer of a stolen firearm (97-37-35). Price was stopped near the Square, and the officers conducted a search of the vehicle where narcotics and the firearm were found. The firearm was recovered and given back to the owner. The firearm was actually taken out of a home during a burglary in the Grand Oaks subdivision this summer, and that case is still under investigation. Price was booked and his bond set at $2,500.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: three disturbances, two 911 hang up calls, a harassment, an animal complaint, a scam, a malicious mischief and an improper parking.
Oxford police investigated nine wrecks, issued 57 traffic citations and made seven arrests on the following charges:

A public intoxication
A suspended driver’s license
A possession of drug paraphernalia
Speeding, suspended driver’s license and no car insurance
Careless driving, suspended driver’s license, and no car insurance
University police department responded to the following incidents: four vehicle stops, a moving violation per improper equipment on Rebel Drive, a petit larceny, a gambling at Whirlpool Building, and a petit larceny at Burns Hall.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a public assist at 11:57 a.m. at 106 Carriage Cove, and two smoke detector activations at 12:00 p.m. and 3:23 p.m. due to workers at Croft Institute.
