Oxford Crime Report: Monday, August 31
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: six suspicious activities, four alarms, two welfare concerns, two noise violations, two disturbances, two harassments, two improper parking, a public intoxication, a false pretense, an ambulance assistance, a careless driver, a malicious mischief, a shoplifting, a 911 hang up call, a civil matter, a fire department assist, and a recovered property.
Oxford police investigated seven wrecks, issued 20 traffic citations and made one arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Universitiy police responded to the following incidents: six vehicle stops, a possession of drug paraphernalia in Fraternity Alley, a grand larceny of more than $1,000 from Pi Beta Phi sorority house and a receiving of stolen property at Pi Beta Phi sorority house.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a smoke detector activated at 9:42 a.m. by cooking at The Village, a general fire alarm malfunction at 11:09 at Pure Ryde located at 319 North Lamar, and a smoke detector malfunction at 3:24 p.m. at 1416 Van Buren Avenue.
