Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, August 28 – 30

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: nine suspicious activities, nine welfare concerns, eight noise violations, seven disturbances, five ambulance assists, five malicious mischiefs, four improper parking, three civil matter, three lost properties, two alarms, a motorist assist, a fire department assist, a credit card fraud, a trespassing, a code violation, a petit larceny, a careless driving and a grand larceny.

Oxford police investigated 24 wrecks, issued 98 traffic citations and made 53 arrests on the following charges:
(17) public intoxications
(8) open container
(2) noise violations
(2) littering
(2) minor in possession with a fake ID
Shoplifting
Warrant served
Disorderly conduct
Possession of Fake ID
Noise violation and DUI
Careless driving and fake ID
Disorderly conduct and fake ID
Public intoxication and fake ID
Minor in possession of alcohol
Speeding, careless driving and DUI
Careless driving, no insurance and DUI
Disorderly conduct and resisting arrest
Public intoxication and resisting arrest
Minor in possession of alcohol and fake ID
Careless driving and possession of Schedule I narcotics
Careless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
Public intoxication and possession of Schedule I narcotics
Public intoxication, fake ID and possession of Schedule IV narcotics
Careless driving, no car insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia
Minor in possession of alcohol, possession of fake ID and open container
Speeding, no car insurance, reckless driving, failure to yield to blue lights and no car tag
Careless driving, expired driver’s license, no car insurance, possession of fake ID, minor in possession of alcohol and DUI

University police responded to the following incidents

Public drunk at Stockard Hall
Traffic detail on Fraternity Row
Public drunk at Phi Kappa Psi fraternity
Service call for an ambulance at Lamar Hall
Possession of alcohol by minor at Crosby Hall
Saturday, August 29
Four vehicle stops
Public drunk at Bishop Hall
Intoxicated person at Deaton Hall
Service call for an ambulance at Delta Psi Hall
Possession of alcohol by minor on Chapel Lane
Sunday, August 30
Four vehicle stops
Suicidal attempt at Crosby Hall
Petit larceny at Turner Center
Assault at Stockard Hall

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Friday, August 28
A concrete truck rollover with entrapment at 10:09 a.m. on Highway 30 East
A smoke detector malfunction at 6:16 p.m. in Brown Hall
Two smoke detector malfunctions at 6:18 p.m. and 6:44 p.m. at Sigma Phi Epsilon
Saturday, August 29
A smoke detector malfunction at 12:14 a.m. at Sigma Alpha Epsilon
A smoke detector malfunction at 2:16 a.m. at Brown Hall
A smoke detector activated at 5:12 a.m. due to workers tearing out sheetrock at The Bling Pig and Thompson House
An attic duct activation at 12:09 p.m. at Chi Omega
A smell of smoke at 12:37 p.m. due to a/c unit motor locking up at Chi Omega
A smoke detector activated at 11:21 p.m. due to a smoke machine at a party at The Depot
August 30
A smoke detector malfunction at 1:02 a.m. at Lamar Lounge
A cancelled call at 9:31 a.m. at 701 Faulkner Woods
A water flow alarm at 10:18 a.m. due to an alarm company working on the system at Kappa Sigma
A public assistance at 4:50 p.m. and 11:02 p.m. at 106 Carriage Cove
People stuck in an elevator at 10:47 p.m. at Towne Place Suites by Marriott
