Oxford High Travels to Starkville to Take on ESPNU Tonight
As the final days of August wind down and the calendar prepares to turn to the month of September, Mississippi high school football teams across the state are getting into full swing of the 2015 season. One week in, teams are already looking to make that run to a state title.
Tonight, coach Hill and the Oxford Chargers will travel down to Starkville to take on the Starkville Yellow Jackets in a non-district game that will be shown live on ESPU at 8 p.m. This game is locally known as the “Little Egg Bowl.”
Oxford comes into the game after a 35-0 victory over the Southaven Chargers at home. Oxford was led in the game by senior quarterback Jack Abraham with 334.0 passing yards in the game and with teammate Drew Bianco picking up 139 rushing yards coming out of the backfield.
Ole Miss recruit DK Metcalfe pulled in eight receptions for a total of 132 receiving yards with a lone touchdown.
The Yellow Jackets welcome the Chargers into Starkville for this nationally-televisied game after dropping the season opener to Noxubee County by the score of 26-20.
Starkville is led through the air by quarterback Montario Montgomery who had a total of 260 passing yards last Friday evening.
Be sure to turn on the television at 8 p.m. to catch the Oxford Chargers take on the Starkville Yellow Jackets on ESPNU.
